In late November 2023, a gym owner from Cambodia reached out to us, distressed about the heat problem in his soon-to-open gym. He was worried that this would lead to a loss of clientele.
The gym area is about 400 square meters, divided into two floors. The first floor is the general workout area, which typically has the most people and is the hottest. The second floor consists of three wide corridors.
The gym owner had already installed small wall-mounted fans, but they were ineffective; the air did not reach the people, resulting in a stifling environment. The gym felt like a steam room.
Since the roof already had numerous openings for ventilation, we recommended installing two 3.8-meter diameter permanent magnet ceiling fans indoors and opening the front door to bring in fresh / dry air from roof to cool the customers and expel the hot / humid air through the front door. Additionally, we suggested installing our large wall-mounted fans on the second floor—five fans were sufficient to cover the entire second floor.
Due to labor cost concerns, the owner decided to install the ceiling fans himself. However, he was very satisfied with the cooling effect. The customers felt very comfortable working out inside, as the increased airflow accelerated the evaporation of sweat, preventing their bodies from overheating without making them excessively sweaty.
